The Building Official is responsible for building permits, building inspections and business licensing. Together with the Blakely Planning Commission, the office handles zone change requests. Applications are below and on the Forms & Documents page, along with the full Code of Ordinances.

Animal control and shelter

Animal Control collects stray animals within the city limits and removes dead animals from city streets. If your pet is missing, or you need help with a nuisance or dead animal, call the shelter at 229-724-7474. If staff are out on a call, leave your name, number and a brief message. After hours, call the Fire Department at 229-723-5150.

Adoption costs $65, which includes spaying or neutering and rabies shots. Please help control the pet population by having your animals spayed or neutered. Volunteers are welcome: contact City Hall at 229-723-3677 or the Friends of Blakely Animal Shelter group on Facebook.
