The Technology Department covers all technology that processes, transfers and exchanges information and communication services for the city. It builds and maintains the infrastructure that lets other departments deliver the services residents expect, and administers every device, computer, network component, application and system the city uses.
The department has three responsibilities:
- Governance. The operating rules for applications, systems and networks, including standardization of services, application management, and network and data security.
- Infrastructure. The hardware, network and other equipment needed for the whole system to work as the city and its residents need.
- Innovation. Constant improvement that creates and maintains efficiencies across every part of the city’s operations.
The city’s former internet service, BlakelyNet, is now Kudzu.
