Five Georgia communities receive housing designation
Blakely is one of five communities newly selected for the Georgia Initiative for Community Housing, a three-year program beginning February 2021.
The Georgia Department of Community Affairs announced on October 13, 2020 that Blakely, Jonesboro, East Point, Covington and the Calhoun Housing Authority were newly selected to receive assistance through the Georgia Initiative for Community Housing (GICH), a public-private program that helps communities grow their economies through housing-related solutions.
The communities begin the three-year program in February 2021. Through a series of conferences, each community housing team designs and carries out strategies to strengthen its economy and quality of life, with continuous feedback from a facilitator. The full release is attached.
