Public hearings on opting out of the House Bill 581 homestead exemption

The Mayor and Council intend to opt out of the statewide adjusted base year homestead exemption created by House Bill 581. Hearings January 23, January 28, and February 13, 2025, at City Hall.

The Mayor and City Council of the City of Blakely gave notice of their intention to opt out of the adjusted base year ad valorem homestead exemption created by House Bill 581. This action does not affect any homestead exemptions that Blakely residents currently receive.

All concerned citizens were invited to three public hearings on this matter in the Council Room at 82 Court Square:

Thursday, January 23, 2025, at 12:00 p.m.
Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at 6:00 p.m.
Thursday, February 13, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. (third and final hearing)
