Power pole replacement on MLK Jr. Bypass
After a storm broke the top of a pole on MLK Jr. Bypass, the Electric Crew held it in place with a pole truck, then replaced it on a Saturday with minimal impact on nearby businesses.

A storm came through a couple of weeks ago with enough wind to break the top of a pole on MLK Jr. Bypass. The top of the pole carried a complicated array of lines and equipment, and replacing it would require turning off power to the surrounding businesses.
So the Electric Crew used a pole truck to hold the top of the pole in place until a safer time to replace it. That time was Saturday, January 28, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The crew planned the shutdown for the least impact on nearby businesses, then replaced the old pole and its complicated, and dangerous, setup with a new, taller pole that carries the lines higher in a vertical arrangement, which is much safer.
