Start utility service
How to set up electric, gas, water and sewer service at a home or business in Blakely, including deposits.
Residential service
- Download the Residential Application Package for Utility Services below, or pick one up at Utility Billing in City Hall. Fill out the application and the Southwest Georgia Regional E-911 information form. If you are requesting gas, read and sign the notice for gas customers. If you want prepaid utilities, read and sign the prepaid fact sheet.
- Bring the completed package to the Utility Billing Department at City Hall, on the left side of the building at 82 Court Square, with proof of residence (rental agreement, lease or purchase agreement) and a picture ID such as a driver’s license.
- A customer service representative runs a credit check while you wait and tells you the deposit, if one is required.
Deposits depend on the credit check: electric $0, $175 or $250; gas $0 or $100; water and sewer $0 or $75. Tap fees for new connections are listed on the Electric, Gas and Water & Sewer pages.
Business service
Download the Commercial Application for Utility Service below and bring it to the Utility Billing Department. The minimum electric deposit is $300 and the gas tap fee minimum is $200; final amounts depend on intended use.
